R Made Simple: A Practical Starter Session Online

This session is designed for students on units that include an R Statistics component, as well as anyone who simply wants to develop R skills to strengthen their research CV or will use it in a quantitative research project.

Location: Online Via Microsoft Teams
Date: Friday 6th March 10am to 12pm

This two hour introductory seminar offers a friendly and practical first step into using R for data analysis. Aimed at complete beginners, it assumes no prior knowledge of statistics or programming, guiding students through the R interface, showing how to import and explore data, and demonstrating simple commands and visualisations through example.

The session focuses on building confidence through experimentation, helping students understand how R works and giving them the skills to start trying things out independently. By the end, participants will have gained a solid foundation for further learning, including the upcoming Statistics Summer School programme, where R will be used to perform advanced statistical analysis ( t tests, ANOVA, correlation, regression) and appropriate data visualisations in a supportive, step by step way.
