Statistics Summer School 2026
Quantitative Research Skills Workshop Series (Live-streamed online via Microsoft Teams)
This online workshop programme is designed for students at all levels who are undertaking, or about to undertake, a quantitative research project at university. Whether you are completely new to statistics or looking to build on your existing knowledge, this hands-on series will help you analyse your data with confidence.
Level: Beginner to intermediate
Across the series, you will be guided step by step through the key practical stages of quantitative research, including:
- Introducing statistical software (Summer School uses RStudio)
- Producing and interpreting descriptive statistics
- Working with research hypotheses and Null Hypothesis Significance Testing
- Checking statistical assumptions
- Carrying out a range of analyses using RStudio (with skills transferable to other software)
You will also learn how to write up your results in APA format and present your findings using clear, effective tables and charts.
No prior knowledge of statistics is required. The aim is to make statistics logical, accessible, and practical for all BU students, regardless of background or experience.
