Excel Extras - Pivot Tables - Online

Excel Extras - Pivot Tables - Online Online

This workshop is for users who are familiar with entering data into Excel and have a basic knowledge of mathematical formulas and functions or have successfully completed part 1 of our Excel workshop programme.

Discover how pivot tables can make work tasks easier and more useful in analysing data.

Excel's Pivot Table feature is an incredibly powerful tool that makes it easy to tabulate and summarise data in your spreadsheets, particularly if your data changes a lot.

If you are finding yourself writing lots of formulas to summarise data in Excel (using functions such as Sumif and Countif) then using Pivot Tables would greatly improve your productivity and provide insights into data patterns that are otherwise too difficult to discover.

Pivot tables work best with large amounts of data. So while you might look at the data in the table above and think "I could summarise that quickly by hand or with a few clever formulas", the likelihood is that it would all get too much - and would certainly take too long to do by hand.
