Essential Maths Workshop

Vectors: Core Skills & Techniques

Delivered live via Microsoft Teams, this focused workshop is designed for any BU student preparing for vector-based mock exams, coursework, or research projects. Whether you need a rapid refresher or want to strengthen your skills, our interactive two-hour session will build your confidence and fluency with vectors. You will explore fundamental concepts such as vector notation, magnitude, direction, addition, scalar and vector products, and their applications in geometry and problem solving.

This workshop will aim to cover the following areas of Vectors:
1 Vectors and their Representation
2 Magnitude and Direction
3 Vector Addition and Subtraction
4 Scalar Multiplication
5 Dot Product and Applications
6 Cross Product and Applications
7 Lines and Planes in Vector Form
8 Applications of Vectors in Geometry and Problem Solving

Ideal for students enrolled in—or progressing to—modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Mathematics for Computing, Mathematics in Science, Statistics & Research Methods, SafeMedicate, BKSB Functional Skills and related courses.
