11+ Entrance Examination Mathematics Workshop

Delivered live via Microsoft Teams, this workshop is designed to strengthen mathematical problem-solving skills using authentic 11+ Entrance Examination-style questions. The workshop is suitable for Bournemouth University students from any faculty who wish to refresh their core maths skills, improve numerical confidence, or support a child, sibling, or family member preparing for entrance examinations.

Workshop Structure

Session 1 – Paper 1 (1 Hour) 5 October 2026 10-11a.m. - ONLINE 

  • Number and place value
  • Arithmetic and mental maths
  • Fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Time, money and measurement
  • Basic algebra and sequences
  • Multiple-choice exam techniques

Session 2 – Paper 1 Review (1 Hour) 12 October 2026 10-11a.m. - ONLINE 

  • Worked solutions and exam strategies
  • Data handling and graphs
  • Geometry and coordinates
  • Multi-step problem solving
  • Mathematical reasoning skills

Session 3 – Paper 2 (1 Hour) 19 October 2026 10-11a.m. - ONLINE 

  • Factors, multiples and prime numbers
  • Ratio and proportion
  • Advanced arithmetic techniques
  • Unit conversions
  • Worded problem-solving questions

Session 4 – Paper 2 Review (1 Hour) 26 October 2026 10-11a.m. - ONLINE 

  • Geometry and transformations
  • Area, perimeter and angles
  • Statistical interpretation
  • Higher-level reasoning questions
  • Exam confidence and time-management strategies
