GCSE Foundation Mathematics Revision Workshop Series

Have you forgotten some of your GCSE maths skills? Need a refresher before starting a module that involves mathematics, statistics, numeracy, data analysis or calculations?

This six-week workshop series is a fantastic opportunity to rebuild your confidence in mathematics and revisit key GCSE Foundation topics in a friendly and supportive environment.

Whether you are studying Business, Health, Psychology, Computing, Engineering, Social Sciences or any other subject, strong numeracy skills can help improve your confidence in both academic study and everyday life.

No prior preparation is required – just bring yourself and a willingness to learn.

Workshop Dates

Session 1: 6 October
Session 2: 13 October
Session 3: 20 October
Session 4: 27 October
Session 5: 3 November
Session 6: 10 November

Time: 1 hour per session from 10a.m. to 11a.m..

Format: Live via Microsoft Teams

Participants can attend individual sessions or complete the full six-week programme.

Session 1 – Number Skills (Paper 1)

• Integers, negatives and BIDMAS
• Fractions, decimals and percentages
• Conversions between fractions, decimals and percentages
• Rounding and estimation
• Ratio and proportion

Session 2 – Algebra Essentials (Paper 1)

• Simplifying expressions
• Substitution
• Expanding brackets
• Solving linear equations
• Formulae and rearranging simple formulae

Session 3 – Geometry & Measures (Paper 2)

• Perimeter, area and volume
• Units and conversions
• Angles and polygons
• Scale drawings
• Bearings and constructions

Session 4 – Statistics & Probability (Paper 2)

• Averages and range
• Interpreting charts and graphs
• Probability calculations
• Tree diagrams
• Data representation

Session 5 – Applied Problem Solving (Paper 3)

• Multi-step exam questions
• Ratio and proportion problems
• Compound measures
• Financial mathematics
• Real-life problem solving

Session 6 – Exam Techniques & Mixed Revision (Paper 3)

• Typical GCSE Foundation questions
• Common mistakes and misconceptions
• Calculator and non-calculator strategies
• Time management
• Exam confidence and revision techniques
