Would you like to learn Python or strengthen your programming skills for mathematics, statistics, engineering and data analysis?
Python is one of the world's most popular programming languages and is widely used in Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Finance, Mathematics, Scientific Research and Industry. This six-week workshop series is designed to introduce students to Python through practical mathematical examples and real-world applications.
Whether you are completely new to programming or already have some coding experience, these workshops will help you develop confidence using Python to solve mathematical problems, analyse data, visualise results and build computational models.
Students studying Engineering, Mathematics, Computing, Data Science, Statistics, Psychology, Finance, Economics, Business and other quantitative disciplines will find these workshops particularly valuable.

Topics Covered
Python programming fundamentals, variables, scripts, functions and mathematical operations; arithmetic calculations, percentages, growth calculations, unit conversions, prime numbers, factorisation, GCD and LCM; algebraic expressions, symbolic substitution, expansion and factorisation, solving linear and quadratic equations, systems of equations and complex numbers; descriptive statistics, probability, combinations, permutations, binomial and Poisson distributions, normal distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing; graph sketching and visualisation using Matplotlib including line graphs, quadratic, cubic, reciprocal and exponential functions, scatter plots, histograms, box plots, cumulative frequency graphs, regression lines and probability distributions; linear algebra and vector mathematics including vectors, matrices, matrix multiplication, determinants, inverses, transformations and trigonometry; and advanced applications including Monte Carlo simulations, Markov models, bootstrap sampling, gradient descent optimisation, random walks and computational modelling.
